Technology-Enabled Teacher Training

For 18 years, this non-profit organization had used the classroom setting to train volunteer teachers on its faith-based approach to sexuality education. While effective for the times and markets it served, Family Honor realized that it needed to extend its sphere of influence and outreach, and it knew that could not be done with the current classroom approach.

To expand their ability to help parents and children connect on important life values, as well as expand their organization with affiliate members across the country, Family Honor turned to the team at Inspired Hype to convert their classroom teaching into a technology driven training program.

The task was daunting, especially since the curriculum for the program was equivalent to a college level course. Working with experts in curriculum design and development, our team re-tooled the Family Honor content from six weekly, day-long classes into a single DVD-ROM that delivered a full multimedia-driven, technology-enabled training course. The course takes advantage of multiple delivery platforms, with DVD- and web-based elements, enabling students to learn and work together in an online environment as they prepare to teach Family Honor's sexuality education curriculum to teens and parents.

Within the first two years of the program, its success has enabled Family Honor to start three new affiliate organizations across the U.S. and has expanded the Family Honor pool of trainers from its Columbia, SC base to Florida, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Canada.

Promotional Marketing

Before Family Honor could begin development of its technology enabled teacher training, the non-profit organization had to raise funds for the development. To bring awareness to the program, Family Honor looked to the Inspired Hype team to develop a promotional CD-ROM to market and promote the features to funding organizations and individuals interested in taking part in the training itself. This dual purpose multimedia presentation was delivered on a business card CD-ROM at the organization's first national conference in July, 2002, and funding for their training program was completely accounted for by late 2003.
